A person has been hit by a train between Ayr and Troon.
ScotRail confirmed the news in relation to an issue that caused major disruption to services between Ayr and Glasgow Central this evening.
The line has reopened and it's understood services are returning to normal but some still may be subject to cancellation, delay or revision.
ScotRail tweeted: "Following a person being hit by a train between Troon and Ayr the line has now reopened. Train services between Glasgow Central and Ayr are returning to normal but some services will still be cancelled, delayed or revised."
Ayrshire Police Division also issued a warning to beachgoers relying on public transport.
They posted: "A number of cancellations have left a very limited number of trains leaving from Irvine this evening.
"Those still at the beach expecting to take public transport, please ensure you leave with plenty of time to spare."
