Texas governor issues disaster declaration in Uvalde to expedite aide to community

FORT WORTH, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in the southwest Texas city of Uvalde after a gunman entered an elementary school there and killed 19 children and two teachers, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
