The presence of frozen water on the moon could help space agencies and private companies set up a moon colony, lunar mining and potential missions to Mars.

ISRO said on Thursday “The Chandrayaan-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon.” Read further on Dynamite News:

“Until now, no one had landed on the south pole of the Moon.”

The landing makes India the fourth country to make a soft landing on the Moon and the first to reach the desirable real estate around the Moon's south pole.

An Indian spacecraft landed on the Moon to join an elite spacefaring club comprising China, Russia and the United States – the only nations to have ever achieved the feat. India, however, becomes the first to land in the lunar south pole region.

It was “17 minutes of terror” in the making of history as India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft descended on the moon’s south pole today. And so, India became the first country ever to land on the south pole, and only the fourth to secure a successful moon landing.
