A growing chorus of leading civil rights groups are issuing travel warnings about visiting Florida amid Gov. Ron DeSantis’ increasingly hostile laws toward women, minorities, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community.

The NAACP joined a Latino civil rights organization and a gay rights advocacy group in issuing travel advisories for the Sunshine State, where tourism is one of the state's largest job sectors.

The NAACP warns in a statement that Florida ‘devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.’

The NAACP over the weekend issued a travel advisory for Florida, joining two other civil rights groups in warning potential tourists that recent laws championed by Gov_ Ron DeSantis and Florida lawmakers are “openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals.”

WASHINGTON — The League of United Latin American Citizens has filed a complaint with the Department of Justice, calling for investigation into the transit of migrants last month from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard, specifically the involvement of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who took credit for the move.

No criminal charges have been filed, but after the woman was identified in a news report, the League of United Latin American Citizens is increasing its efforts to see her criminally punished.
