The political arm of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) has announced its endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket. LULAC leadership will be joining Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz during a campaign event in Nevada on Saturday.
LULAC Adelante PAC Chairman and Past LULAC National President Domingo Garcia stated, 'Today, we are proud to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because of the real issues facing Latino communities and all Americans across the nation; we can trust them to do what is right for our community and the country.'
Established in 1929, LULAC is a civil rights organization dedicated to advancing opportunities for Hispanic Americans. This marks the first time in its almost 100-year history that LULAC has endorsed a presidential candidate.
In conjunction with this endorsement, LULAC will be intensifying its efforts to reach Latino voters in several battleground states, including Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
Vice President Harris, along with Gov. Walz and LULAC leadership, is expected to hold a campaign stop in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Nevada has supported the Democratic candidate in the past four presidential elections. In 2020, the Biden-Harris ticket won the state by a narrow margin of two points, making its six electoral votes crucial in reaching the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. According to a Pew Research survey earlier this year, Latinos constitute 22% of the total eligible voter population in Nevada.
Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez emphasized the importance of Latino unity and organization in the upcoming election. She stated, 'The stakes of this election require Latinos to unify and organize together like our lives depend on it. That’s what this endorsement makes clear: the organizing power of LULAC Adelante PAC will help us elect Vice President Harris and Governor Walz to fight to deliver for Latinos and our families.'
