Electing Fetterman to Senate ‘would be big step forward for Pennsylvania’s working people’, Biden says

PHILADELPHIA — Tuesday’s primary election — one of Pennsylvania’s most consequential in recent years — brought thousands of voters to the region’s polls in an understated election day showing.

PITTSBURGH — John Fetterman, the Pennsylvania lieutenant governor whose shorts- and scowl-wearing persona made him something of a political celebrity, has won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press.

Fetterman's unconventional political style and progressive pitch won the backing of voters in the deeply purple swing state.

Pennsylvania has an open Senate seat for the first time in 12 years. While the Democratic race was easily decided, the Republican primary looked like it's headed for a recount.

PHILADELPHIA — Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who has been in the hospital recovering from a stroke since Friday, will get a pacemaker, his campaign said in a release Tuesday afternoon.
