CHICAGO — Chicago was selected Tuesday to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention, a huge economic and prestigious postpandemic boon, and an acknowledgment the city’s progressive, pro-union values align with a Democratic Party that is seeking to boost its strength in a politically competitive Midwest.

The Democratic National Committee announced Tuesday morning that Chicago will host the 2024 convention next August. Chicago beat out New York and Atlanta.

After a century of Democratic mismanagement, Chicago is hemorrhaging population, catastrophically underfunding massive pension promises, and taxing the bejeebus out of its crime-scarred residents.

After Mayor Lori Lightfoot was told by DNC Chair Jaime Harrison Chicago won the convention, the mayor, defeated for reelection, said ‘I told him he made my day, week, and year.’

They hope that by bringing a global spotlight to Chicago, the political event will show off the city’s best features and accelerate its post-pandemic resurgence.
