WASHINGTON — There’s a pair of member versus member primaries in Illinois, incumbents facing elimination in Mississippi runoffs and an empty seat being filled in Nebraska on Tuesday as seven states hold elections.

Mississippi has runoffs, Nebraska a special election, and Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma and Utah have primaries.

Some pivotal elections will be settled with runoffs Tuesday, including a high-profile and pricey GOP primary to pick the likely successor to retiring Sen. Richard C. Shelby of Alabama.

Races Tuesday include the Alabama GOP Senate runoff in which Trump endorsed Katie Britt after rescinding his backing of Rep. Mo Brooks.
