According to Ballotpedia’s May partisan count of the 7,383 state legislators across the United States, 54.33% of all state legislators are Republicans and 44.39% are Democrats.

There are 32% more contested state legislative primaries this year than in 2020, including 64% more Republican primaries and 18% more top-two/four primaries. Democratic primaries are down 10%.

Following the 2020 census, Missouri completed a redistricting process that changed the district maps for the U.S. House and the state legislature. Legislative redistricting in Missouri was completed on March 15 with U.S. House redistricting completed on May 18.

There are 34% more contested state legislative primaries this year than in 2020, including 68% more Republican primaries and 18% more top-two/four primaries. Democratic primaries are down 9%.

All three candidates in the nonpartisan primary for Office 67 of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County—Fernanda Maria Barreto, Ryan Dibble, and Elizabeth Lashley-Haynes—have submitted Candidate Connection surveys to Ballotpedia. These surveys allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them on political and personal levels.
