The SpaceX launch of Axiom Space's Ax-3 private astronaut mission to the International Space Station has been delayed by eight days, to Jan. 17.

One month before SpaceX launches the Ax-3 astronaut mission toward the ISS, Axiom Space's president said he hopes similar missions will become less expensive in the future.

The Canadian Space Agency will announce new astronaut assignments on Nov. 22, just 6 months after astronaut Jeremy Hansen received a moon mission for Artemis 2.

Commercial companies are increasingly becoming involved in transporting astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), as well as other activities in orbit. Some, such as Houston-based Axiom Space, eventually want to build their own space stations in orbit, where commercial astronauts could make extended stays.

The UK Space Agency has signed an agreement with a US company called Axiom Space to develop a space mission carrying four astronauts from the UK. The flight would most likely use the SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle and travel to the International Space Station (ISS).
