Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already told Christopher Nkunku how to succeed at Manchester United

Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already taught reported target Christopher Nkunku how to succeed at Old Trafford.

Nkunku, according to reports in Germany, is admired by United boss Ralf Rangnick and has been earmarked as a possible transfer target.

RB Leipzig's star man has scored 20 goals in just 32 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit including an impressive seven in just six outings in the Champions League.

Before moving to the top tier of German football, Nkunku spent time in the French capital at Paris Saint-Germain where he played alongside Edinson Cavani and Ibrahimovic.

It was in a training ground exercise involving all three men that the attacking midfielder learnt an important lesson about mentality.

Nkunku told L'Equipe: "One day, in my first year as a pro, we were playing a training match the day before a game.

"It was 1-1, there were seconds left to play, I wanted to play a cross-field ball and it went straight to the opponent.

"It was Edi [Cavani], he headed it and scored. We lost.

"The next day, Ibra calls me and looks me straight in the eye: 'Yesterday, I lost'.

"I didn’t really know what to say to him. He was serious, but he was laughing, but it was serious [laughs].

"He made me understand that it was the first and last time that he would be losing a game.

"Afterwards, Blaise [Matuidi] came to me and said: 'There you go, now you know how demanding our training sessions are. You don’t lose here'."

This seemingly harsh lesson learnt at an early age shows that Nkunku knows exactly what sort of atmosphere and approach is needed in order to be successful at Old Trafford should he sign for the club.
