Zach Wilson had a day in Week 14 in a 30-6 win over the Houston Texans. In his first game back as starting quarterback for the Jets, Wilson threw for 301 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions as New York snapped a five-game losing streak.
Wilson was rewarded for his performance Wednesday by being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14. Both home quarterbacks at MetLife Stadium were named Offensive Player of the Week. The NFC recipient was Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito after their comeback win over the Green Bay Packers Monday night.
The award was the culmination of a whirlwind week for the Jets that was headlined by the report of Wilson being reluctant to return to the starting lineup. He came back with flying colors and now has the offensive honors for the week. Wilson and the Jets hope to ride their newfound momentum into Sunday’s rematch with the Miami Dolphins as New York looks to keep their very slim playoff hopes alive.
