Jets quarterback Zach Wilson wasn’t at his best for much of Week 8’s game against the Giants. But as he often seems to do, Wilson came up big with the game on the line, helping to navigate the drive that resulted in the Jets’ game-tying field goal to force overtime.
The Jets got the ball back at the 39-yard line with 24 seconds left and no timeouts, trailing their intra-city rivals by three.
In Wilson’s mind, that was “no problem.”
He managed to get the team in field goal range, enabling Greg Zuerlein to force overtime with a 35-yard kick.
After the game, Wilson broke down the game-tying drive to reporters and showcased plenty of confidence while doing so.
WOW the swag from #Jets QB Zach Wilson at the podium after the #Giants win is palpable, ‘when I saw our defense got a stop there, I was like oh 24 seconds? No problem. We’ve shown we can do it in 2-minute all year’ 😤

“Unbelievable grit and battle by the guys,” said Wilson, via Paul Andrew Esden Jr. “Absolutely no waver in belief there at all, including me. Didn’t doubt it at all. When I saw our defense got a stop there, I thought, ’24 seconds? no problem.’ We’ve shown we can do it in two-minute all year.”
Wilson completed 17-of-36 pass attempts for 240 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in Sunday’s win over the Giants. It wasn’t a world-beating performance from the former No. 2 pick, but he stepped up with the game at stake and helped deliver an important win.
