Arsenal remain interested in Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to recent reports.
The Gunners were heavily linked with the Mali international in the summer and football.london reported last year that their interest was indeed genuine.
However, Swiss maestro Granit Xhaka ended up signing a new contract with the north London club and Bissouma eventually decided to stay at the Amex Stadium.
Now, Mikel Arteta's side are extremely short in the centre of the park, with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny both currently at the Africa Cup of Nations and Bissouma has again been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Transfer guru Fabrice Hawkins has claimed that Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all interested in the 25-year-old but it will take a huge offer for the Seagulls to consider selling him this month.
Bissouma has previously claimed that he is better than Partey and Co - and any other top-flight star for that matter - stating that he thinks he is the best midfielder in the Premier League when asked by former Brighton teammate Glenn Murray.
Speaking to the BBC last year, he said: “I don’t want to be arrogant but that’s my mind. I think for me, it’s me because, in my head, I’m working to be the best.
“I know the Premier League has many good midfielders, but for me, it’s me because that gives me confidence and energy to work hard to show people that 'I’m here, I’m Bissouma'.
“I just want to be focused on football to play every game, every week to be good, to help my team to win and yeah, the rest we will see for the future.”
