HYDERABAD: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana high court on Friday directed the CBI which is inquiring into the gruesome murder of Kadapa former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy to not arrest YS Avinash Reddy, the sitting MP from Kadapa, till Monday.
The CBI is currently questioning the MP at its Hyderabad office. Though summoned as a witness, the CBI is actually treating Avinash Reddy as a suspect.
The judge heard a petition filed by Avinash who complained to the court that the investigation officer of the CBI is not recording his statement as was deposed by him. He wanted his examination by CBI cops to be videographed.
He wants his counsel to be around his quizzing session at the CBI office. The judge summoned the record pertaining to Avinash to verify whether anything incriminating material is existing against him. Produce the material before the court by Monday, the judge said addressing the CBI counsil K Anil Kumar.
Senior counsel T Niranjan Reddy appeared for Avinash and urged the court to direct the CBI not to arrest him till Monday.
CBI counsel said that they are in fact allowing the counsel for Avinash to be in the vicinity of the CBI office and that they are also recording the audio and video of the CBI officials quizzing Avinash.
The judge said Avinash need not appear before the CBI officials till Monday.
The judge posted to Monday the plea filed by Dr Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of deceased leader Viveka Reddy who wants to be impleaded in the case and oppose any relief to Avinash.
Victims have a right of being heard. This court will certainly hear you, the judge said addressing Sunitha's counsel L Ravi Chander.
The judge directed CBI to furnish to the court the letter written by Viveka before his death and also the report of the FSL which spoke on the contents of this letter.
