Youth, son killed, two family members critically injured in accident in Thrissur

A 28-year-old man and his three-year-old child were killed and two others were critically injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling in collided with an ambulance at Eravu on the Thrissur-Vadanappally State highway in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased were Jithu, son of Sukumaran of Padiyur, and his son Adrinath. Jithu was returning from a hospital at Olari after consulting a doctor as Adrinath was unwell. Jithu’s wife Neethu (23) and his father-in-law Kannan (55) were also in the autorickshaw. An ambulance that was transporting a patient from Paduva Hospital, Puthenpeedika, collided with the autorickshaw. Jithu, who was an autorickshaw driver, was riding the vehicle.

The autorickshaw was destroyed in the impact of the collision. The injured have been admitted to Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur. No one in the ambulance was injured.
