Your week in chic: From Garrard's sparkling new wings to sustainable swim and The Outnet's hot denim collab

METAMORPHIC MAGIC

E.L.V. DENIM x THE OUTNET (E.L.V. DENIM x THE OUTNET)

Clever denim sorceress Anna Foster of ELV Denim (which manufactures locally in London solely from deadstock) has whipped up a super smart new collaboration with The Outnet. She raided the retailer’s past season collections and reworked them into a chic, 50-piece line. Her magical transformations include a leather gladiator skirt, created as Foster explains, ‘from four pairs of stretch leather leggings. We used the existing form of the waistband and used techniques to deconstruct the rest of the garment and rework it, incorporating the existing characteristics of the material.’ Lots of the pieces are modular, too. ‘A leather dress can be zipped apart worn as a skirt and a top; a jacket can be worn long or worn short. It just adds conceptual value to the piece, a quality you want to celebrate,’ she adds. It is all quite cheering food for thought given the rapacious overproduction of the fashion industry. Finally, some smart circular ideas are coming to the fore.

FLY HIGHER

Garrard's Wings Rising collection (Garrard)

Have you been angelic? Perhaps you deserve a very delicious sparkly treat. Enter Garrard’s storied Wings collection with its new Wings Rising evolution, which features the signature wings motif rendered in lapis lazuli and pink opal as well as apple malachite and golden mother of pearl. Sara Prentice, creative director, describes the pieces as ‘the boldest representation of the motif yet’.

From £2,900 (garrard.com)

SPLASH LANDING

RIO CALLING CHELSEA

Farm Rio spring summer 2024 (Farm Rio)

Warm yourself up with a visit to Farm Rio’s very first London outpost. The buoyant Brazilian brand has opened its doors on the King’s Road and it’s bursting with its signature decadently patterned, minimalists-need-not-apply style. Expect jungle-strewn decor featuring hand-painted wallpaper and buriti straw fitting rooms. Kátia Barros, co-founder and creative director, promises ‘an immersive and vibrant shopping experience’ that will ‘inject a burst of colour and positivity into people’s wardrobes’. You’ll also find her latest capsule collection ‘created in collaboration with the Yawanawá — an indigenous people from the north of Brazil. The partnership is very close to my heart, and the programme provided income generation and became an instrument of female empowerment in the villages, breaking gender paradigms.’ Next stop: Bahia.

Farm Rio, 86 King’s Road, SW3 (farmrio.com)
