Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman had himself a day on Wednesday against the A’s, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. One of those doubles he had to hustle his tail off to get. The other came with an assist from a fan in the stands.
In the third inning, Freeman ripped a liner into the right field corner off of Oakland starter Hogan Harris. The ball bounced once, just before the warning track, and before it could carom off of the wall and back toward right fielder Ramón Laureano, a kid in the stands reached down and made a nice snag. Freeman was awarded second base on fan interference.
It isn’t terribly unusual for a fan to interfere in an MLB game, but what makes this play unforgettable is the kid’s hilarious reaction upon realizing the mistake he’d made.

The kid looked absolutely mortified, but I’d argue that he has nothing to be embarrassed about. That wasn’t an easy catch to make. He had to move to get in position to make the play and time his reach perfectly to snag the ball near the ground. And then he realized his mistake immediately! He’s got great baseball instincts.
