Award-winning children’s theatre company Cahoots is bringing a fun new show to the MAC Belfast this summer.
‘When We Were Wild’ is a funny and moving new play about growing up and the importance of nature and art running from 15-18 June.
Written by Charles Way and directed by Paul Bosco Mc Eneaney, the show features astonishing animal puppetry from Helen Foan, live music from Kyron Bourke and plenty of Cahoots’ signature blend of theatrical magic and illusion.

Cahoots’ Artistic Director, Paul Bosco Mc Eneaney said, “We are delighted to be back in the MAC with this brand-new piece of theatre. It has been in the works for several years and it's amazing to finally breathe life into these characters.
"There are so many elements of this show that audiences of all ages will connect with - live music, incredible puppetry, and a really beautiful story. We are lucky to be working with such a talented line-up of local and international performers, crew and creatives that will make this piece a stand-out.”
The story follows brothers Jim and Pete as they reunite and reminisce about their childhood, when they would sleep beneath the stars and become one with the wild world around them.
The show is set in a wood filled with magic and memories that is home to a host of wild creatures including a Fox, Owl and Badger. These creatures, amongst others, appear throughout the show, helping Jim and Pete reconnect with their magical childhood.
Simon Magill, Creative Director of Live Events at the MAC said: "The MAC is thrilled to be collaborating once again with acclaimed children’s theatre company Cahoots in the presentation of this wonderful new production which touches on the creativity and magic of childhood imagination in such a moving and funny way.
"A theatrical treat for parents and young audiences alike."
Alison McCrudden, Head of Literature, Drama and Dance, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, added: “Cahoots is a multi-award-winning, critically acclaimed theatre company bringing the magic of theatre to children and young people across the region and beyond.
"The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is proud to support Cahoots with their new show, ‘When we Were Wild’, which promises to be another unmissable showstopper and I would encourage everyone, from the very young, to those young at heart, to go along and enjoy!”
