Year in pictures: January 2023

The beginning of the year always brings start-of-school nerves, and it also heralds the city's annual celebration of all things automotive, Summernats.

Holidays see the annual migration of Canberrans to the NSW South Coast, while others prefer to spend Australia Day closer to home at one of the local rivers or lakes.

As Australia tried to smooth over the trade tensions with China, the Embassy in Canberra spoke up about the dispute, putting forward its position on how to return the relationship to a happier place.
