Yaya Toure and Paul Scholes agree on Martin Odegaard after what he did during Watford vs Arsenal

Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has claimed that Arsenal star Martin Odegaard's piece of skill against Watford over the weekend was 'lucky.'

The Gunners clinched a 3-2 victory at Vicarage Road, with Odegaard breaking the deadlock after just five minutes, following a sublime back-heel flick to Bukayo Saka in the build-up.

However, former England international Scholes has admitted that he doubts whether the young playmaker intended to control the ball in the manner that he did.

"We're not sure if he means this, Odegaard to Saka, but if he does, give him credit, it's a lovely finish," Scholes told Premier League Productions.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure. I think from one angle it does look like he meant it, from this angle I think he's a little bit lucky, I think he's just wanting it to let it run across his body, it catches his heel and plays in Saka."

Similarly, Manchester City legend Yaya Toure had his doubts over the piece of skill, adding: "I think from my point of view he wants to control it.

"I think he got lucky with it, just touched it for Saka who was running behind the back of the defender.

"It was a pretty nice goal, nice movement, started from the midfield, beautiful, I like it."

It was the fifth time that Odegaard has scored in the Premier League this season as the Norwegian captain has begun to establish himself as one of the most consistent players at the club.

The 22-year-old joined initially on loan back in January of last year before completing a permanent transfer from Real Madrid over the summer.
