The New York Yankees arrived in Tampa Bay this weekend ahead of their spring training opener on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers, meaning fans in attendance got their first glimpse of star outfielder Juan Soto donning his new gear.
He and new teammate Aaron Judge posed for some pictures while waiting for their turn to take swings during batting practice, and the Yankees’ social media team wasted no time providing some hilarious content for the fanbase, at the expense of MLB reporter Jon Heyman.
The Yankees welcomed Soto and Judge to camp while taking a friendly jab at Heyman, who previously made an infamous spelling mistake while incorrectly reporting that “Arson Judge” appeared to be heading to the San Francisco Giants in free agency—which ultimately was not true.

After agreeing to trade for Soto this offseason, the team welcomed him on X and jokingly called him “Jon” Soto, taking an affable swing at Heyman.
When Soto arrived at spring training on Tuesday, the social team couldn’t help but play into the joke once more, happily informing fans that their new star tandem of “Jon and Arson” had been introduced to one another.
Soto is expected to bat in the No. 2 hole for New York this season, while Judge is expected to slot in at No. 3 in the lineup, making for a devastating punch at the top of the Yankees’ batting order.
