Xbox Project Helix Has Reportedly Been Under Development for 10 Years

Microsoft reportedly planned to create a gaming platform that is capable of playing both console and PC games way back in 2016.

Now, the company has announced what is now known as "Project Helix."

Xbox Project Helix: Under Development for 10 Years

According to ComicBook Gaming, the plan to create a console that can play both Xbox and PC games has recently been revealed new Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma.

Specifically, Sharma, Xbox, and Microsoft confirmed to the public earlier this week that the next-generation Xbox, dubbed "Project Helix," will deliver a console that can play both Xbox and PC games.

ComicBook Gaming unearthed an article from Keza MacDonald and Jason Schreier via Kotaku, which talked about a next-gen console that can play different title versions on the same device.

Microsoft's Xbox That Can Play Console, PC Titles

Despite the release of Xbox Series S and X, Microsoft's plans for Project Helix apparently did not come to an end, as a decade since the Kotaku report, the company officially unveiled its hybrid console.

Project Helix is now a reality, with Microsoft's new Xbox CEO claiming it to be the next-generation console for the company. This confirmation suggests that this hybrid console could be available as early as 2027.

Through this new version of the Xbox, players may enjoy the PC titles they own on this next-gen console. It also allows them to play on any device, provided they have the "Xbox Play Anywhere" feature available.
