The Xbox 360 Marketplace is shutting down today which gives you a limited time to buy whatever you want from the store before the titles become unavailable for good.

Microsoft has made the decision to close down the Xbox 360 Marketplace after it has been open and serving players in the community for nearly two decades.

One good thing that came out of the sad news is that there are a lot of discounts in the store for players to take advantage of.

Xbox 360 Marketplace is Shutting Down

The announcement that the Xbox 360 Marketplace would shut down was made in August 2023 and will result in roughly 220 titles essentially disappearing in digital form forever.

However, the games that players have already bought can still be redownloaded if they own an Xbox 60 console, according to Tom'sGuide.

There are also many titles available in the Xbox 360 Marketplace that can be played on the Xbox One family of consoles and Xbox Series X/S if they are backward compatible.

Some of the noteworthy titles that will no longer have digital versions after today include Burnout Crash, Mighty No. 9, and two Resident Evil games.

The final day of the Xbox 360 Marketplace came alongside a post by Larry Hryb, former director of programming for Xbox Live. The message on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that all good things must come to an end.

Hryb also expressed his pleasure in sharing all of the thousands of marketplace sales and updates that he has given over the years. He then thanked the community for having fun, playing fair, and filing feedback, said GameSpot.

In other news, Xbox also got a big update for consoles and cloud that arrived last month and brought with it new background customization, subscription management on consoles, and mouse-and-keyboard functionality for cloud gaming.

Xbox-Related News

Players who have the chance to buy games from the Xbox 360 Marketplace should take advantage while they still have time. This is primarily because there is no definite time that the store will be shutting down within the day, according to GamesRadar.

Another recent news item is that the Xbox Game Pass subscription has just received some major changes, including price adjustments and the removal of day-one releases for the service's basic tier.

Xbox Game Pass for consoles will soon be out of reach to new users only and only current users will be allowed to maintain their subscription. There are also some price increases across the board for the subscription.
