WWE Column: Brock Lesnar regains the WWE title, The Rock praises Montez Ford and Pat McAfee hints at Cody Rhodes return

Saudi Arabia hosted yet another explosive live event this past Saturday, WWE Elimination Chamber.

A wild main event saw Brock Lesnar dominate and reclaim the WWE championship, while the defending champ Bobby Lashley was unable to compete due to an injury.

From one WWE legend to another, The Rock heaped praise on one half of the Street Profits, Montez Ford.

Rumours have been swirling regarding the future of Cody Rhodes following his departure from AEW, and has SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee suggested he will be returning to WWE?

Brock Lesnar regains the WWE championship at Elimination Chamber

The main event of WWE Elimination Chamber saw Bobby Lashley defend his championship against Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Riddle and Austin Theory.

However, Lashley was unable to compete after Seth Rollins powerbombed Riddle through his pod and injured him.

He was carried backstage and never entered the match, therefore we were guaranteed to have a new champion.

An eager Lesnar, who was set to enter the match last, couldn’t wait any longer and smashed through his pod before unleashing terror on his opponents.

He wasted no time eliminating Seth Rollins, AJ Styles and Riddle, before he hunted down Theory.

The youngster tried his best to escape 'The Beast’s' clutches, but once Lesnar had a hold of him, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

The powerhouse climbed to the top of one of the pods, slammed Theory’s head against the glass several times before throwing him off the top.

Lesnar made it back to the floor and proceeded to pin Theory to become the new WWE champion, and will contest a blockbuster title v title match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania in April.

The Rock praises Montez Ford

The Rock is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.

His charisma, supreme ability to electrify the crowd and incredible ability in the ring make him one of the most complete grapplers we have ever seen.

Despite no longer being an active competitor, ‘The Great One’ still keeps his eye on the company where he made his name, and had some kind words to say about one member of The Street Profits tag team, Montez Ford.

The former Raw and SmackDown tag team champion has made no secret of his admiration for The Rock in various interviews and mentioned him again during an interview with Fox’s Ryan Satin recently.

The eight-time WWE champion saw this and took to Instagram to praise Ford, who he believes will become a world champion in the future.

“Just taking a moment to tell this man @montezfordwwe how much I appreciate his kind and beautiful words. We’ve never shared the ring together, but pro wrestlers all have a very special bond,” he wrote.

"Fans can always sense who’s passionate inside that squared circle ~ and who’s not. This man is passionate. We share that DNA. (And he flys like the Superfly).

"Keep kicking ass brother and give my love to your family. And when you become world champion one day, I’ll be right there rooting ya on."

Pat McAfee confirms WWE return for Cody Rhodes?

SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee seemed to indicate Cody Rhodes may be in line for a shock return to WWE.

The 36-year-old revealed he would be leaving All Elite Wrestling after three years with the company last week.

He was behind the promotion’s formation of AEW in 2019 along with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

This came after the 36-year-old had ended a ten-year stint with WWE, where he’d been a consistent, regular performer without truly nailing a main event spot.

Rumours began to circulate regarding Rhodes’ future, with many believing he could make a sensational return to WWE.

On an episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” the man himself appeared to hint that this may come to fruition, before issuing a savage remark about the former Intercontinental champion.

McAfee said: “I guess Cody Rhodes is coming to WWE. I guess, who cares?

“Him and his little friends started something, it was terrible. We actually went head to head with them on Wednesdays.

“We beat them a couple of different times. Who cares? The hell with Cody Rhodes.”

Should he make a return, it will go down as one of the incredible WWE returns in recent memory.
