New Delhi: India suffered another crushing defeat at the hands of New Zealand, with the visitors thrashing Rohit-Sharma led side by 113 runs, dealing a blow to India's hopes of qualifying for their third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Chasing a mammoth target of 358 runs target in Pune, India bowled out for 245 runs. With this win, New Zealand registered its first Test series victory in India. This is India's first home Test series defeat since 2012.
New Zealand have climbed to No four on the WTC points table. Despite the loss, India retained the top spot, with a PCT of 62.82.

India need 5 wins to qualify for WTC final
Now, India need to win five of their remaining six Tests to qualify for the WTC final. India will have to play five-match Test series against Australia in Australia later this year.
Defending champions Australia are on the second spot with 62.50 percentage points, followed by Sri Lanka (55.56 per cent points) and New Zealand (50 per cent points).

Meanwhile, Pakistan jumped one spot to seventh position after defeating England by nine wickets in the third Test in Rawalpindi, winning the three-match series by 2-1.
