Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric could be handed a final farewell in the Welsh jersey later this year, with a send-off match after the World Cup being considered.
The international retirements of the Ospreys duo on Friday saw two of Wales' most experienced players call time on their Test careers just months out from the World Cup.
The tournament in France later this year seemed like a good swansong for both, but that won't be the case now. Despite that, the idea of some sort of send-off to the pair is being discussed.
One possibility would be a send-off match in Cardiff after the World Cup.
There is currently not a fixture in the calendar at this time, but there is a precedent for such a match - with Wales bidding farewell to Shane Williams after the 2011 World Cup with a match against Australia in Cardiff, while Wayne Pivac started his reign four years ago by taking on Warren Gatland and the Barbarians following the 2019 World Cup.
This match could also serve as a send-off to any other players who retire from Test rugby after the World Cup, with more than a few senior stars expected to call it a day on the international stage after this year's tournament in France.
No opponent has been suggested at this stage, but just like four years ago, the Barbarians would make sense.
It is understood that another option to honour Wales' recent retirements could be by bringing both players into camp in order to celebrate their careers and draw upon their wisdom ahead of the World Cup.
