Mexican wrestler El Hijo de Fishman has been detained and reportedly accused of homicide following the death of 75-year-old referee Gerardo Germán Pineda during a wrestling event in Hidalgo. Pineda, known by his ring name 'El Búho,' collapsed during a match in Mineral de la Reforma after an alleged wrestling manoeuvre.

The 36-year-old was competing against Máscara Sagrada NG at an event organised by El Patrón Espectáculos in the early hours of Wednesday, 7 October. Local reports identified the move as a variant of the piledriver, but the exact circumstances of Pineda's death and the medical cause remain under investigation.
