WrestleMania 38 from Dallas, Texas was yet another record-breaking WrestleMania for WWE, as its biggest event of the year broke records in attendance, live revenue and social media engagement.

“The event drew 156,352 fans from all 50 states and 53 countries to AT&T Stadium in Dallas. In addition to breaking attendance and revenue records, WWE set records on social media with a record number of Video Views, Hours and Impressions for any event in WWE history,” said WWE in a press release.

Not only did WWE’s social media engagement set company records, WrestleMania 38—which aired for two nights from April 2 to April 3—outpaced Super Bowl LVI according to Conviva.

  • Impressions: WWE: 2.2 Billion Impressions vs. Super Bowl: 1.8 Billion Impressions
  • Video Views: WWE: 1.1 Billion Video Views vs. Super Bowl: 618 Million Video Views
  • Video Watch Time: WWE: 13.1 Million Hours compared vs. Super Bowl 3.56 Million Hours

WrestleMania 38 Sees Social Media Gains vs. WrestleMania 37

  • Record 1.1 Billion Views across Facebook, Instagram, Snap, TikTok, Twitter – an increase of 47% from WrestleMania 37
  • Record 785 Million Minutes or 13 Million Hours of video consumed on social, an increase of 29% from WrestleMania 37

  • WWE’s top two highest engagement posts in history during an event – Cody Rhodes return to WWE generated 500,000 engagements during its broadcast and the Pat McAfee/Austin Theory/Mr. McMahon match hit over 450,000 engagements during their match

WrestleMania 38 featured the return of Cody Rhodes, who defeated Seth Rollins, and Stone Cold Steve Austin, who wrestled his first match in 19 years. Austin headlined WrestleMania Night 1 opposite Kevin Owens in a no-holds-barred match, while Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar headlined their third WrestleMania in seven years.

WWE television ratings were also bolstered during WrestleMania week, with both Raw and SmackDown drawing their biggest viewership of the year for their respective WrestleMania go-home shows. Raw, from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, and SmackDown, from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, each drew sellout crowds.

WWE went outside of its main roster to drum up additional hype for its most important show. Ronda Rousey, Pat McAfee, celebrities Logan Paul, Johnny Knoxville and the aforementioned Steve Austin and Kevin Owens all received top billing while also delivering memorable moments as special attractions.

WrestleMania 39 will be held in SoFi Stadium, home of Super Bowl LVI. WrestleMania has run in many of the same venues as the Super Bowl, with some WrestleManias even outperforming the NFL’s biggest game in tax revenue brought into the area.
