World Snooker Championship halted as Just Stop Oil protests cause Crucible chaos with orange powder stunt

Just Stop Oil protesters have forced play to stop at the Crucible by attacking the tables.

The World Snooker Championship match between Joe Perry and Robert Milkins was interrupted when two protesters jumped the barricade and ended up on the table. The pair proceeded to cover the tables in orange powder paint before being security eventually removed them and the group's Twitter account claims they have been arrested.

It comes just over 48 hours from the Grand National at Aintree being delayed by protesters at the start of horse racing's most famous event. Proceedings stopped by 14 minutes after activists looking to stop the event taking place entered the track. Just Stop Oil have said 'oil and gas will snooker us' while also stating in their statement: "They are demanding that the Government immediately stop all new UK fossil fuel projects and are calling on UK sporting institutions to step into in civil resistance against the Government’s genocidal policies."
