World Cup knockout fixtures confirmed after dramatic final group games

The World Cup knockout stages are upon is with 16 teams left standing in Qatar after the group stages.

32 sides travelled to the Middle East with dreams of staying beyond the first two weeks of the competition. But, after plenty of twists and turns, that number has been cut in half.

And with the group stages finalised on Friday night, the fixtures for the last-16 have been confirmed. There was plenty of drama across the final set of group games, with a host of big-name casualties.

Germany were the biggest team to miss out, being dumped out after Japan beat Spain on a chaotic Thursday night. Less than 24 hours later, Uruguay were eliminated as a result of South Korea's late winner against Portugal leaving Luis Suarez in tears.
