Work to a pavement has been causing traffic chaos in a Welsh village for nearly two years

Work to a pathway in Rhondda Cynon Taf which people say was meant to take months but has now gone on for almost two years is causing traffic chaos. Business owners in Llanharan have spoken about the issues that the work to the footpath on Bridgend Road (A473) has caused, with a temporary set of traffic lights causing congestion to back up down the A473 entering the village and also up Hillside Avenue during peak times.

Jayne Mogford from The Corner Shop said: “It can take 10 minutes longer to get to the end of the road. It’s caused a lot of problems especially with people crossing the road.” She said the work has gone on for around two years despite the fact that they were told it would take three to six months.

She claims workers have kept finding new problems with the work and that it has caused “chaos.” She also says fumes get in the shop after a while and said it gets frustrating for drivers with some trying to skip the lights which has a knock-on effect.
