Women's Premier League 2027 dates locked in from January 14 to February 7

The BCCI on Wednesday announced that the fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be held from January 14 to February 7, 2027.

The tournament will be played just ahead of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Champions Trophy, which was recently shifted from Sri Lanka to India.

"As the biggest T20 league in women's cricket, the TATA WPL has established itself as a significant platform for the growth of the sport, bringing together leading players from India and around the world while creating opportunities for emerging talent to perform at the highest level," said the BCCI in a statement.

The BCCI has not yet announced the host cities for the 2027 edition of the Women’s Premier League, leaving the venue details to be confirmed at a later stage.

In the 2026 edition, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Smriti Mandhana, clinched their second WPL title. The tournament was staged across Navi Mumbai and Baroda, with the two venues hosting the league’s matches.

The Player Retention deadline is set for September 28.

"The five franchises will have the opportunity to retain players from their existing squads as they begin putting their combinations in place for the new season," the BCCI added.

The player auction for WPL 2027 will be held on October 28 in Kochi.

The WPL made its debut in 2023 and has since seen Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerge as the two most successful teams, with both franchises having won the title twice each.
