Women’s World Cup 2023: Sam Kerr confirms Australia injury return ahead of crunch Canada clash

Australia captain Sam Kerr has confirmed she will be fit for the Women’s World Cup co-hosts’ crunch clash with Canada on Monday.

Kerr has missed the first two games of the tournament due to a calf injury and Australia have struggled without her.

The Matildas have won one and lost one, and they must beat Canada on Monday to qualify for the last-16.

Kerr has now given Australia a major boost by confirming she will be available for the game against the Olympic champions.

“I’m feeling good,” said Kerr. “I was out on the pitch today.

“It’s going to go down to the wire - I’m definitely going to be available. The plan has always been the same - miss the first two games and then reassess.

“I’ve done everything under the sun to get fit to be selected. I’ve given everything in the last 10 days, and four years before that, to be here.”
