Women’s Organisation enhancing employment and career prospects

A new initiative from award-winning social enterprise The Women’s Organisation (TWO) will support women with an existing business idea through a focused programme.

The four week programme, via their WO Business Academy (WOBA) offers up to 25 hours of support and advice. Individuals who enrol can benefit from self-development workshops, business training and 1-2-1 mentoring with experienced business advisors.

The programme is designed to provide learning opportunities at no additional cost to the participants. It offers a lifeline for women to enhance their career and employment prospects without being a further strain on the pocket.

The programme will cover a range of topics from business planning, managing finance to social media and marketing, as well as confidence building, public speaking and resilience. A portion of the learning will be delivered online, with face-to-face sessions also taking place at TWO headquarters at 54 St James Street.

Business advisor and facilitator at TWO, Carole Sheppard said: “WOBA is an exciting and unique opportunity for women considering the world of enterprise and entrepreneurship. If you’ve ever seriously considered starting your own business or have a developed idea, this programme is perfect for you.

"Designed to equip you with all the knowledge and skills you need, from business planning, to managing finance and marketing. By the end of the course you will be ready to register your business with the help of our experienced team of business advisors”.

Over a four-week period commitment from participants is 6-8 hours per week. The programme starts on September 15 and lunch will be provided each day.

Head of Business Advice Plus at TWO, Sophia Kennedy, said: “The ever-intensifying cost-of-living crisis has put additional financial pressure on everybody, not least those who are out of work. Rising food, fuel and energy costs have forced many of us into a position where every pound and every penny counts.

“It has been so sad to see in recent months the impact this has had on our clients and service users. We hope that the Business Academy might provide a small lifeline to some of those facing the most serious financial insecurity.

"We want to get the message out as far and as wide as possible so that as many women in the Liverpool city region can benefit from the opportunities the programme provides. Our team is ready and eager to help."

TWO has a range of courses and programmes for women who would like to explore opportunities in enterprise and entrepreneurship. For information on their full range of courses, visit: https://www.thewomensorganisation.org.uk/
