Woman who 'pushed mum off cliff' posted selfie at scene of alleged murder

A woman accused of pushing a missing mum to her death off a cliff posted a chilling picture of herself at the scene of the alleged murder.

Loretta Kay Carr, 43, and daughter Jessie Kelly, 21, have been charged with murdering Mary Elizabeth Isbell, 38, after officers found the victim's remains two days following their arrest, reports the Daily Mirror.

Mary was posted missing after vanishing in November 2021 in Alabama, US, but cops were unable to find any trace of the mum.

However, it has now been revealed that Loretta uploaded a picture of herself at the scene at the Little River Canyon national preserve in 2019.

She posted the image alongside her fiancé Robert Mitcham, saying: "Day trip to Little River Canyon and Falls. Was beautiful and only a little ways from the house."

Loretta claims there is no evidence to support the allegation.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said: "We would like to thank the Pennsylvania State Police Corry Barracks, Huntsville Search Dog Unit, State of Alabama Aviation Unit, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Fischer Rescue Squad and all the volunteers who helped during this investigation for all their hard work and dedication.

"Each individual played an important role in bringing Beth home and holding those responsible for this horrific crime accountable.

"We would ask that you pray for Beth's family and give them privacy as they navigate through this difficult time."

Authorities say that the timeline of the missing mum remains muddled because she was essentially homeless and moving between friends' houses and "living where she could in DeKalb County."

Her mum, Debbie Wood, claimed she grew close to a "bad" crowd in the lead up to her disappearance.

She told a local news channel: "I think she got mixed up with some wrong people."

Her boyfriend, James Allen Wright, was arrested in September 2021 before being released to a Florida rehab facility in November 2021.

Her ex-husband was interviewed by cops on December 27, 2021 and they also searched his home but he was later released by investigators.

No more updates arrived until June 28 this year when investigators received a tip-off and interviewed two people in connection with her alleged murder.

Lorretta was subsequently arrested on June 25 and two days later forensics confirmed a match with the missing mum on June 30 - which would have been her 39th birthday.

Her teenage son shared a link to the suspect's arrest, writing: "Love you forever, like you for always, as long as I'm living, my mommy you'll be."

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 21.
