A woman who was left fighting for her life after being shot during a standoff with police has appeared in court accused of threatening officers with a knife.
Sonia Price was seriously injured after she was hit by a bullet in her lower abdomen following the firearms discharge on the streets of Toxteth in July. She remained in hospital for months after suffering serious injuries but appeared at Sefton Magistrates’ Court earlier this week charged with threatening the officer, “G”, with a blade.
According to the charge, the 56 year old allegedly wielded a large kitchen knife at the officer at the corner of North Hill Street and Lothian Street on July 9, 2020.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said last year that two officers involved in the incident had not breached professional standards or committed a criminal offence in their response to Price’s behaviour. A statement released by the body last summer said: "There was no indication that the officers had committed a criminal offence or breached the standards of professional behaviour.
“Our investigation into the non-fatal shooting of a woman in Toxteth by Merseyside Police in July 2020 has progressed well. All lines of enquiry for the investigation are now complete, and the investigation has moved to its final stages.
"Our investigators have gathered witness statements, CCTV and footage of the incident and have taken accounts from the two officers involved, who are both being treated as witnesses. We have also reviewed the policies and guidance that cover the deployment of armed officers.
"We continue to keep Merseyside Police and the woman’s family informed of our progress.”
Price, now of Warley Road, Blackpool, did not enter a plea during her hearing on Tuesday and will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court next month.
