A "forgotten" Merseyside area has been branded "terrible" after residents reported a series of pothole issues.
Potholes can result in very costly repairs. Right across the UK motorists report on serious pothole problems, but one area in particular has seen Merseyside motorists riled up in recent months.
One mum, who has lived in Speke for the last four years, said the potholes have "put her off learning to drive". The woman, who did not wish to be named, told the ECHO : "It's really bad. It's been bad for years and years but they've been getting progressively worse.

"Without a shadow of a doubt, every single road in Speke has a pothole in. It's terrible, the only roads that are fine are the ones around the airport, they've all been resurfaced.
"Sutton Wood Road is absolutely terrible, there's 150 yards just filled with potholes. A kid was coming out of school and fell over one, the holes are that deep. They are only filled with loose stones, so as soon as cars start moving the holes are back.
"There's kids on bikes getting ruined, it's never ending. It's just bad and nothing seems to be getting done. I've been here for four years and been put off learning to drive because of it. Even driving instructors won't teach you here, they will take you out of Speke."
The frustrated mum said car tyres "are popping" as parts of Speke are "forgotten about". Another mum, who travels to Speke every day for work, added: "My partner drives me every day and picks me up and every day he complains about the roads.
"There are so many large vehicles and the roads don't seem able to cope."
Potholes are often unavoidable due to general wear and tear of the roads, and the weather especially doesn't help but Liverpool Council's website states that when reporting a pothole, road defects must be more than 25mm deep for the inspector to recommend work is carried out.
It reads: "It's really useful if you can provide photos, as they can help us to locate the pothole and also to understand the severity of the problem. We can't repair potholes on private or unadopted roads. If the hole is so large it is a danger to traffic or pedestrians please call 0151 233 3001."
Liverpool Council confirmed work has commenced on Sutton Wood this week and the team are back there again today, when work is expected to be completed.
Liverpool City Council previously appointed three contractors to deliver a £35m Highways Improvement Programme (HIP). The council’s Highways and Transportation team and their delivery partners are now progressing with the upgrade of more than 100 roads through the HIP.
The improvement works, funded from a mix of sources including the city council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the Department of Transport, will see the delivery of 39 schemes in the north of the city, 33 schemes in the central district of the city and 36 schemes in the south of the city.
