Woman dies at Scots retail park as police launch probe into unexplained death

Police have launched a probe after an elderly woman died outside a shop in Lanarkshire this afternoon.

Cops were called to Currys in Birkenshaw Trading Estate, Uddingston, at around 2.30pm after a 75-year-old female died suddenly outside the store.

Pictures from the scene showed a heavy police presence in the retail park as officers began carrying out their investigations.

The pensioner's death is currently being treated as unexplained, but police have said there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a 75-year-old woman outside a premises in Birkenshaw Trading Estate around 2.30pm on Friday, 8 April.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
