A woman found a tiny baby gecko in a punnet of strawberries from a Lidl supermarket in south Manchester.
Nikata Moran found the tiny creature after she'd picked up the fruit from the store on Stanley Grove in Longsight last Wednesday (January 18). She saw a 'little head' sitting on top of one of the strawberries in her fridge.
Nikata, who lives in Fallowfield, called the RSPCA who found the gecko had travelled nearly 3,000 miles from Egypt to the supermarket. The baby lizard was collected by one of the charity’s inspectors, Rachel Henderson, and taken to Ashleigh Veterinary Centre - which is experienced in dealing with exotic animals - where the creature was looked after overnight.
