A woman who was dumped by her disloyal husband for her best friend saw her bad luck turn into good fortune after she won a double lottery jackpot in Colombia. The anonymous gambler from Barranquilla secured a £268,000 jackpot from two lottery tickets which have solved all of her financial problems.
The wronged wife got the last laugh after she received a 'flirtatious' phone call from her ex-partner to congratulate her on the win and she unsurprisingly gave him a quick brush off, the Mirror reports. It's been revealed the mother was close to losing her home when she decided to purchase the lottery tickets by the firm Supergiros where you only get the jackpot by winning two draws which is considered highly unlikely.
Yet that day, she had the winning ticket 8628 in the El Siunano lottery and 1935 in the Caribbean night draw. Local media outlet Zona Cero reported that she was a seamstress and was only days away from being evicted from her home as she couldn't afford the mortgage.
Her daughter had also not been able to register in the latest term at her university due to a lack of money. The woman had bought the ticket as a last resort on January 17 which was also by chance a year to the day that her husband left her for her best friend which worsened her financial problems.
She was reportedly 'trembling' when she found out she had won the biggest ever jackpot in the South American country where the average monthly salary is around £800. She is also believed to have taken home the biggest amount ever won in the Supergiros lottery she entered.
Meanwhile in the UK, one lucky Brit's weekend could be about to go out with a bang after the latest EuroMillions draw was made. Players will want to check their numbers as there's £26m up for grabs following a number of huge recent wins.
The Friday January 2 winning EuroMillions numbers are 3, 6, 13, 40, 42 and the Lucky Stars are 7 , and 11.
The National Lottery Thunderball winning numbers are 2 , 7 , 25 , 26 , 32 and the Thunderball is 5.
