Woman discovers Shrek's face in pistachio ice cream - complete with grumpy features

A woman was left baffled after spotting a familiar face staring back at her in a tub of ice cream - her discovery has left people in stitches.

Maxine Chan erupted in hysterics when she noticed her snack had morphed into none other than Shrek. Once you spot the ogre's facial features, you can't un-see it.

After transferring the remaining green ice cream into a Tupperware box so it could fit inside her freezer with ease, Maxine did a double take when Shrek's features came to the fore - including his signature ears angry expression.

You'd be forgiven for assuming the green hue is the most obvious resemblance, but the ogre's eyes, nostrils, open mouth, and even ears are all there.

She claims she saw the spitting image of Shrek in her pistachio ice cream (Jam Press/Maxine Chan)

Quickly snapping a photo for social media, Maxine uploaded the image to popular social media app Facebook to show off her discovery.

Captioning the post of her photo upload, she wrote: "He looks so familiar."

One Facebook took to the post and joked: "Shrek after a stroke."

Another nodded to the film reference, as he added: "He's saying get out of my swamp."

"Looks like someone put Shrek in the microwave and hit high," a third mused.

Meanwhile, other people were trying to guess the flavour of the ice cream as they discussed their suggestions.

One woman questioned: "Mint? But where's chocolate?"

She then added: "Or pistachio."

Others said the ice cream looked like a mix between two different film characters.

"If Shrek was Mrs Doubtfire's face mask," one wrote.

Another added: "Sloth from The Goonies dressed up as Shrek for world book day."
