THREE people have been arrested after a woman died and four others were taken to hospital following a crash that involved multiple vehicles near Edinburgh Airport on Monday.
The A8 was closed in both directions between Newbridge roundabout and Edinburgh Airport for several hours on Monday after a serious crash involving four vehicles at around 9.25am.
The driver of one vehicle, a 58-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and have since been released.
Two women aged 23 and 19 years and a 32-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the crash.
Police enquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Sergeant Mike Thomson said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who died.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
