Woman born in prison handed 'very special' photo as she meets dad for first time

A woman who was born in prison was amazed when she met her birth father 18 years later - as she discovered he had kept an ultrasound scan of her in the womb. Tiegan Boyens, 20, was put into foster care at two and adopted at four, then when she was 18 she met her dad, 47-year-old Jay, for the first time.

Tiegan, a student from York, always knew she was adopted, as her loving adoptive mums Maggie, 54, and Anne, 57, talked to her openly about it and sometimes helped her write letters updating her birth grandparents on her life. She had no contact with her father until she was given his phone number at 18, and at their first meeting he showed her the photo he had always kept for her.

She was gifted the "very special" image by her dad, and Tiegan said it helped her piece together her identity and begin to understand "the puzzle of who I am".
