Woman badly scarred by acid attack thought she'd never find love again - but is now set to marry

A woman who was subjected to a horrific acid attack that caused her to spend over a year in hospital said she hated men and thought that she would never find love again - but is now getting ready to marry after finding her dream man.

Linneti Kirungi had acid thrown over her face, neck and body as she walked to university in an attack orchestrated by her ex-boyfriend. The acid burned through her clothing and caused her such pain that she ran into traffic in the hope that a vehicle would kill her.

The social sciences student told the Mirror that she spent an agonising year in hospital following the attack, which her former boyfriend allegedly financed after she broke up with him. She had ended the relationship after his behaviour became controlling and he demanded that she give up her course at university in Kampala, Uganda.
