A woman was shocked when she received a mysterious package through her letterbox - as when she opened it she found a dead bat inside.
Fay Hancox, 38, wasn't expecting a delivery so was surprised when a package was pushed through her door, and she promptly opened it to see what was inside.
Soon a terrible smell emerged from the now open package and Fay realised she was holding a dead bat in her hands - but she had no idea why, as the Manchester Evening News reports.
She managed to track down a neighbour with a doorbell camera that faced her door, and the footage showed a woman casually walking up and posting it through her letterbox.
What do you think about Fay's shocking package? Let us know in the comments...
Fay, from Ramsbottom, Manchester, got the unusual package at around 6pm on Monday, March 7.
She said: "I was sat in my lounge with my kids, and I heard my letterbox go. I thought it was a charity bag, so I ignored it – I was cooking tea.
"It was an envelope, and it had a freezer bag with something black inside.
"I pierced the bag… and it stank. It was a bat!"
Fay, who has lived in Ramsbottom for seven years, couldn't work out who would send her a dead bat and sought advice.
She said: "I rang my kids' dad, who is a police officer. He started laughing. He asked if I had upset someone — but I do not speak to anyone.
"I rang my landlord to see if he had enemies… we found out [who it was] next door through the Ring doorbell."
Bizarrely, there was a totally normal explanation for the dead bat - as the doorbell footage showed a woman walking up and posting the letter.
Fay said: "I do not recognise her at all. It turns out she had found this bat, and there’s a bat lady who lives on the street, who takes in poorly bats.

"She was posting it though to see why it had died. She's got the wrong house, she's mortified!"
Fay only worked out it was an innocent mistake after sharing the footage from a neighbour's doorbell on Facebook, with residents working out the mystery.
After finding no sinister intent behind the package, Fay said she can "sleep again", joking: "It’s just another normal day in Ramsbottom."
