Madonna returned to the MTV Video Music Awards with all the spectacle expected from the Queen of Pop, but one brief moment from her opening performance has sent social media into a very different conversation.

A viral clip appeared to show the 68-year-old singer continuing to deliver vocals while her mouth was not moving, prompting some viewers to accuse her of relying heavily on playback and one critic to brand her the 'Queen of Lip-sync'.
