A MAN has been arrested after two people were hospitalised by an alleged hit and run in Paisley today.
Police were called to Lawn Street around 9.10am on Saturday, September 19 where a woman, 74, and man, 47, were hospitalised by the crash.
The driver, a 22-year-old male, attempted to flee the scene but was later traced by police and arrested.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Saturday, September 19, 2026, we were called to a report of a hit and run crash on Lawn Street in Paisley.
“Emergency services attended and a 74-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The 22-year-old male driver of the car which left the scene was traced by police a short time later and he was arrested in connection.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Lawn Street was closed at both ends shortly after the incident as police formed blockades on Glasgow Road and Gauze Street.
The roads were reopened around 11.45am and traffic has now returned to normality.
