Officers are appealing for information after a car collided with a bollard, leaving its 91-year-old driver in hospital.
The white Volkswagen Polo crashed at about 3.05pm yesterday (February 6) on Park Lane, in Sunderland, near the Interchange, with police quickly on the scene.
The car’s driver was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.
But now, officers are appealing for any witnesses of the incident to come forward.
“We are asking for anybody who believes they witnessed the collision – or who was in the area and saw a white Volkswagen Polo – to get in touch,” said a spokesperson for Northumbria Police.
“Members of the public are asked to check any dashcam footage and get in touch if they see anything that may assist the ongoing investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police via their website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20230206-0720.
