A Florida appeals court has ordered the full expungement of a Leon County grand jury report that criticized how $10 million from a Medicaid settlement with health insurer Centene was handled. The First District Court of Appeal's ruling, issued Oct. 7, held that the grand jury exceeded its legal authority, according to the Florida Phoenix.
The money came from a 2024 settlement over allegations that Centene overbilled Florida's Medicaid program for pharmacy services. Instead of the full amount going to the state, $10 million went to the Hope Florida Foundation, a charity tied to an initiative led by First Lady Casey DeSantis.
